Can I bring my kids or my neighbors kids? Can I drop off my kids at Flamingocon? What is the children’s ticket price?
Well-behaved children who are accompanied by an adult are welcome. Anyone under age 16 must be accompanied by an adult. Ticket prices are the same for all.
Can I bring food to Flamingocon? Can I buy food at Flamingocon?
Yes, you can bring food into our event — with conditions. No full meals or open drinks in the gaming areas. There is space in lobby reserved for eating and a lovely park outside. Water bottles are allowed at the tables, but consider stowing them under the table during the game if you can. You can even have a light snack in the gaming area, but be respectful of the game and greasy fingers. There is a vending machine in the civic center and some light snacks will be sold by the Flamingocon crew. Lunch or dinner can be bought at the food trucks right outside or at one of several restaurants in the area along Jog Road. Some are even within walking distance.
Can I bring in alcohol?
No.
Can I smoke? Or vape?
No.
Can I bring my dog? Or some other creature?
No. Not even comfort animals. Only exception are actual service animals for the disabled.
When is the next Flamingocon? How many times a year will you be hosting this?
We used to do this event 3 times a year. Now that we have grown the event and are hosting at the South County Civic Center, we are still playing it by ear how often it will occur. Watch this website for updates.
Can I buy tickets ahead of time? Are there tickets at the door?
Yes. Watch this website (with announcements on Facebook, Twitter and Instagram) for online ticket sales via Paypal. Link will be available when tickets are available. There will be tickets at the door, if we do not sell out beforehand.
Are there games available at the con? How does this game library work?
We have a Game Library, a collection of more than 100 games that were loaned for the day to be used by Flaminmocon attendees. You will be asked to provide your driver’s license or a picture ID to the librarian to “check out” a game. We ask that you take good care of the game while playing, and when you are finished, put all the pieces back in appropriate places and return the game to the library the way you found them. And yes, if someone is too young to have a driver’s license, then they are too young to check out a game by themselves.
Can I bring my own games?
Of course! We encourage it! The point of the con is to share and learn. At least half the attendees will have a bag full of games with them. Please keep your games in a bag or container, and do not block the aisles or take up table space.
What if I don’t know anyone else there?
Gamers are a friendly bunch. You will see Players Wanted/Teacher Wanted signs at tables where people are hoping to round out a game. Ask if you can join. Or pick out a game, grab a sign, and wait for people to come to you. Or if others are opening up a game, ask them if they need another player. We have volunteers that will help teach games and help match you up with others who need more players. You soon will know someone!
Where can I keep up with Flamingocon news?
Keep track of us on Facebook and Instagram!
Do you have T-shirts or other Flamingocon items for sale?
Check us out on Red Bubble (see link in banner above). We do not have any items for sale at the event.
How can I learn more about Flamingocon Inc’s board game donations for my school or nonprofit organization?
Email us at flamingogamescon@gmail.com.
What other rules should I be aware of?
Show respect to staff, other convention attendees, and event facilities. Harassment of any kind will not be tolerated. We reserve the right to ask anyone who is behaving inappropriately to leave, with no refund.
Don’t be disruptive. Keep volume reasonable to allow nearby gamers to enjoy their games as well.
No weapons: Any breaking of this policy will get you expelled from the con, and may get the police called.
And obviously, federal, state and local laws must be obeyed.
